After that I headed over to Duke and met with Coach K and all of the assistants.
That was cool. They showed me all around and everything was beautiful there.
We went back to the film room and watched films of J.J. Redick and Trajan Langdon and then Coach K told me that he felt in his heart that I’d be a great fit there and that’s when he offered me.
It’s hard to describe how I felt when he said that. It was a dream come true for me.
When we left me and my dad (Melvin Booker) were excited. He just kept saying, “Do you know what just happened? We were sitting there with Coach K!” He wasn’t as heavily recruited in high school so he always tells me that he’s just enjoying watching me go through this process. It’s a blessing.
The next day we went to the game and it was pretty crazy!
The fans definitely knew who I was and they were chanting my name so that was pretty crazy. It was a surreal moment for me. Everyone talks about their fans, but it’s even crazier in person.
The game was great too.
I usually watch my position the most when I’m at a game and I loved how they used Rasheed (Sulaimon). He actually went off that game so I liked to see that. I got a chance to talk to Rodney (Hood) a little too. He’s from Mississippi so that was cool.
After the game I talked to Coach K again and we had another great talk with the assistants.
I loved talking to him.
I knew coming into to that weekend that I wasn’t gonna commit because going to great schools like Duke and UNC you know you’re gonna have a great time so you can’t get caught up in that.
